Britain

yes, it's no secret, if i could be reborn as anyone in the world i'd at least like to be reborn as a british citizen. why you may ask? well, i think hugh grant couldn't have said it better in Love Actually:

Britain. We may be a small country but we're a great one, too. The country of Shakespeare, Churchill, the Beatles, Sean Connery, Harry Potter. David Beckham's right foot. David Beckham's left foot, come to that.

Britain is a freaking awesome country, to put it crudely. i don't even have to point out that their accent makes them oh so freaking adorable :( even on girls...and for some reason ang moh girls always look better so that's a real clincher (true, i haven't gone and tried to differentiate between american and british ang moh girls but brits are probably prettier so case closed).

it's something about their history too that's really intriguing, the art and fantastical things that came out from britain in the past, their ancient archives of accomplishments that are just waiting to be marveled over(? at? upon?) by wide-eyed observers. the home of the kinks, the rolling stones, all sorts of fantastical music that just broadens the imagination. not like fucked up chinese music that all sound the same, or whiny american trash...come on get over that guy already! tear drops on my guitar wtf!? get a life!

so at the end of the day, either i'm terribly mistaken about this supposedly perfect country, or british actors are just terribly good at what they do.

Edit: well, surprise surprise apparently of the 6 actresses i mentioned ytd 2 are american 2 are english and 2 are canadian :O go figure!

ut malum plavia

if anyone were to chance upon this blog and wonder what the above phrase means it apparently literally translates from latin as "when evil rains", quite apt considering it's the slogan of the Umbrella Academy, the latest thing to have fascinated me. yes, i did read the first story arc in trade paperback many months ago but for the lack of better graphic novels to choose from i have decided to revisit it and what have i found? a second series already published and a series of short stories i had initially overlooked. very engaging and unorthodox story, i only wish it had been created by someone less well known than gerard way. makes it so much more mainstream for some reason :( it doesn't help i already hate him for screwing up "under pressure" in his eternally cursed cover of the Queen great when performing for MCR with the Used.

inception was a jolly good mindfuck

oh, just discovered kate beckinsale really is quite pretty when she's not a vampire princess on the run from other vampires of werewolves :D add that to other megan fox-pretty but not megan fox-famous actresses like january jones amanda crew gemma arterton (though she suddenly exploded to fame) elisha cuthbert and Shannyn Sossamon (didn't even bother trying to type that out myself, just copy-pasted it from google :p)

Day #2

all this registration retardation is really pissing me off...why am i so inconvenienced just because i got accepted late? is there really so much admin work that goes into processing the applications of just a few more people who got in from the reserve list? (somehow i'm slowly getting used to hearing those words...reserve list...)

got scammed once again by the online internet community, downloading MLB 2K10 instead of MLB '10 the show, you think people would know the difference -.- and stupid me spent a good half an hour playing the impostor thinking "whoa, they really shook things up on this one...for the worse!"

am getting fat. must start cutting down/exercising. who would've thought it'd start so soon, just a little over a week after disrupting!? damn i hate not being able to eat with abandon :(

just realised it's probably time i re-organised my MSN contacts as well. no more sorting according to house :p we're not in RJ anymore i'm afraid.

i can't bear to start reading Dallas and my new graphic novels yet. knowing me i'll probably finish all of them within the day and then i'll be sitting there thinking, wtf i spent $200++ and half a day scouring the island for these and they're all over and done with? so for now they're gonna stay in mint condition in their plastic...coverings. maybe i'll start on them when term starts. definitely going to need something more CONSPICUOUS than me psp during lectures :D

on the first day

so, seems as if setting up a blog was way harder than initially thought, guess i'll just have to settle for a custom template plus some extra things i added here and there. this is probably the only thing that will keep my sane for the next few years to come. looks like a bleak lifetime ahead of me, gotta keep my head in the game.

so, an update as to what has happened recently:

by the grace of God Himself i miraculously managed to make my way into the medical faculty at NUS, hence attaining for myself a very fortunate disruption from the curse that is NS. initially over the moon at this piece of news i soon came to find that it does have its fair share of downsides as well, such as the eternal boredom i face at home compelling me to start keeping an internet journal again. however it did free up the time for me to go on an endless search for elusive comics and graphic novels i haven't had time to indulge in for the longest time so i guess it sort of evens it out a little.

softball has started to pick up pace too. apparently when i got carded it came with an obligation to constantly play for the national team regardless of commitments. sucks a lot of time from my schedule but isn't this what i always wanted? hope it doesn't kill me in the end, how ironic would that be.
